Standard Operation Method of Wheel Loader
(1) Pre-Operation Preparation (Safety and Equipment Inspection)
- Personnel Preparation: Operators must hold a valid “Construction Machinery Operation Certificate”, be familiar with the structure, performance and operation manual of the wheel loader being operated; wear complete personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety helmet, non-slip work clothes, protective gloves and safety shoes, and avoid wearing loose clothes or accessories that may be caught by equipment components.
- Equipment Inspection: Walk around the machine to check for damage, oil leakage, water leakage and air leakage; check the wear condition of tires and the tightness of tire bolts, and ensure that the tire pressure is within the standard range; check the bucket for deformation, and the bucket teeth for wear or falling off; check the oil levels of engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant and brake fluid, and ensure they are within the standard range; test the safety devices (such as safety belt, reversing buzzer, fire extinguisher) to ensure they are complete and usable.
- Operation Environment Confirmation: Clean up large obstacles, hard objects and flammable materials in the operation area; mark the uneven areas, pits and hidden dangers in the operation site, and set up warning signs; confirm that the operation area is spacious enough, and there are no irrelevant personnel and obstacles within the operation range (usually ≥5m); check the road surface condition, and avoid operating on soft or slippery roads to prevent slipping.
(2) Start-Up Operation
- The operator boards the cab safely, faces the equipment, holds the handrail firmly with both hands, steps on the pedal steadily, and is strictly prohibited from jumping up and down.
- After entering the cab, fasten the safety belt, adjust the seat, backrest and armrest to a comfortable position, adjust the rearview mirror and side mirror to ensure a clear view, and confirm that all operating handles (lifting, tilting, shifting) are in the neutral position.
- Turn on the power switch, wait for the system self-inspection to complete (the self-inspection light goes out), then start the engine. The starting time shall not exceed 15 seconds. If it fails to start once, wait 30 seconds before trying again.
- Let the engine idle for 3-5 minutes (extend to 5-8 minutes in cold weather) to preheat the hydraulic system and engine. Observe the instrument display to ensure that parameters such as oil pressure, water temperature and voltage are normal, and there are no abnormal noises or odors.
- Test the hydraulic system and operating components: Slowly operate the bucket lifting and tilting handles to make the bucket perform full-stroke movements 2-3 times, discharge the air in the hydraulic pipeline, and confirm that the hydraulic system operates stably without jamming or leakage; test the steering system to ensure it is flexible and smooth, and the braking system (foot brake, handbrake) is effective.
(3) Core Operation (Loading, Handling, Stacking)
1. Loading Operation
- Drive the wheel loader to the material pile, adjust the body to be parallel to the material pile, and keep a distance of 0.5-1m from the material pile to ensure stable operation.
- Lower the bucket to the ground, tilt the bucket slightly forward (angle 5-10°), slowly drive the machine forward, and insert the bucket into the material pile; during insertion, step on the accelerator moderately, and avoid forced insertion to prevent damage to the bucket and tires.
- After the bucket is filled with materials, stop driving forward, tilt the bucket backward to hold the materials tightly, then slowly lift the bucket to an appropriate height (avoid touching the ground or surrounding obstacles), and drive the machine backward to leave the material pile.
2. Handling Operation
- After loading materials, adjust the height of the bucket (keep 30-50cm above the ground) to avoid material splashing or collision with the ground during driving.
- Drive the wheel loader to the target position at a constant speed (speed controlled at 2-5km/h), avoid sudden acceleration, sudden braking and sharp turns; during driving, observe the surrounding environment at any time to avoid collision with people or objects.
- When approaching the target position, slow down, adjust the body position, and prepare for unloading or stacking.
3. Stacking Operation
- Drive the wheel loader to the stacking area, adjust the body to be aligned with the stacking position, and slowly lift the bucket to the required stacking height.
- Slowly tilt the bucket forward to unload the materials, and shake the bucket slightly to ensure that all materials are unloaded, without residual materials in the bucket.
- After stacking, slowly lower the bucket, drive the machine backward to leave the stacking area, and prepare for the next operation.
(4) Driving Operation
- Before driving, confirm that the bucket is lifted to an appropriate height (30-50cm above the ground), and the operating handles are in the neutral position.
- Shift the gear lever to the forward or reverse position, release the handbrake, step on the accelerator slowly to drive at a constant speed; the driving speed shall not exceed 15km/h during transfer, and shall not exceed 5km/h during operation.
- When turning, slow down and turn the steering wheel gently, avoid sharp turns to prevent the machine from slipping or tipping over; when going uphill, shift to low gear, keep the engine speed stable, and avoid sliding backward; when going downhill, shift to low gear, use engine compression braking to decelerate, and strictly prohibit coasting in neutral.
- When driving on uneven or soft roads, slow down and avoid sharp turns and sudden braking to protect the tires and chassis.
(5) Post-Operation Finishing
- Drive the wheel loader to a flat, hard and water-free safe area, lower the bucket to the ground, unload the equipment load, and turn off all operating components.
- Let the engine idle for 3-5 minutes to cool the engine and hydraulic system, then turn off the engine, pull out the key, and close the power switch.
- Clean the equipment: Remove the soil, gravel and other residues on the bucket, chassis and tires; clean the cab, and sort out the operating tools and personal items.
- Inspect the equipment again: Check for oil leakage, water leakage and damage; check the wear condition of tires and bucket teeth; fill in the “Equipment Operation Record” and “Wheel Loader Daily Inspection Form”, and record the operation time, equipment operation status and found problems.
- Do a good job in handover work, inform the subsequent operator of the equipment status and precautions; when parking at night, set up warning signs and turn on the warning lights to ensure safety.
(6) Operation Precautions
- Unauthorized operation, operation after drinking, fatigue operation and operation with illness are strictly prohibited; during operation, keep focused, do not answer or make calls, and do not leave the cab without permission.
- During operation, no one is allowed to stand under the bucket or within the operation range of the bucket; when unloading or stacking, avoid personnel approaching the material pile to prevent material collapse and injury.
- Overload operation is strictly prohibited, and forced insertion of the bucket into hard materials is not allowed to avoid damage to the bucket, hydraulic system and tires; if encountering hard objects, stop the machine immediately, clean them up, and then continue operation.
- When operating near high-voltage lines, keep a safe distance (horizontal distance ≥2m for voltage <10kV), and it is strictly prohibited to operate under high-voltage lines without permission.
- Regularly maintain the equipment, check and replace oil, filters and wearing parts according to the operation manual, and ensure the equipment is in good operating condition; lubricate the pivot points regularly to reduce component wear.
- During rainy season operation, avoid driving on soft or slippery roads; after operation, clean the tires and chassis, and apply anti-rust oil to key components to prevent rust.
